About Me

Hello, my name is Jessica Conklin. I am a student at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan. I am working towards my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  I am currently studying LGBTQ+ Through the Global Lens. I have had the opportunity to learn how LGBTQ+ is viewed globally. I have come to see the impact of colonization on LGBTQ+ communities is complex and varies significantly across different regions. Ultimately, the evaluation of colonization's effects on LGBTQ+ communities requires a nuanced analysis of historical, cultural, and societal factors.  We are discussing queer individuals that are activists for LGBTQ+ community. I chose Elton John because he is past, present and future.  He is an icon and activist.
